Appearing at Yule craft Fair

This Sunday, Dec 6th, I will be at the Yule Craft Fair at the Bronson Centre in Ottawa (Ontario, Canada).  It’s open 3-7pm, and a percentage of profits go to two pet charities.  Service pets and Katz’ feral cat rescue.

I will be selling my hand-blended, all natural spice mixes, no preservatives, no fillers, no crap.  I will have a sample gift basket, and will be taking orders for Yule.  The baskets include two spice packets, basmati rice, tomatoes, coconut milk, chocolates, and recipes to make one complete dinner/ you just add the fresh ingredients.  You can order butter chicken/ curried veggies, zesty African chicken/ Moroccan veggies, Salsa chicken and Mexican rice, or any of the spices I make. ($25-30)

I also plan to have “elf earrings” for $15/ pair, and medicinal, herbal salves for $12.935124_10151666856891891_1952926545_n

Sales for May 2nd to 8th

So, I’m back!  We spent almost 2 weeks in NB visiting my mom.  I wish I’d gotten to see a few more relatives, but we had a great time just relaxing and reconnecting.  And shopping in the States.  I mean, seriously…. 500 aspirin for $2.97!!  Seriously?

I stocked up on aspirin, decongestants and cough syrup.  My darling man and I have been sick all freaking winter.  I think my nose has been running since October. And now that Spring is finally here, my mold allergy has me sick again… still… both.

We also got 2 BBQ chickens for $2.98 each.  WHOLE chickens!  They are on sale this week at Superstore for $8.98.

That’s about it, this week.  Most sales are on crap food.

Since I hate posting only a couple of lines, I am feeling free to wax on about the permaculture course I’m taking online.  I mean, it is my blog, after all.

I am taking a free 72 hour (plus hands on design work) online course through the Regenerative Institute.  All of the lectures are free (if a bit boring) but the certification costs about $500.  Mind you, you don’t need to be certified to design and build your own permaculture paradise.

I also want to get my herbalism degree/ chartered whats-it.  And build my spice, herb and salve business.  I’m sure you see this coming?  A permacultured happy little farm with perennial food crops, an edible forest and a medicinal meadow!  A plant it once and mostly not have to fuss over it, self sustaining business.

Which reminds me, I must get the workshop finished so that I can make a few gallons of herbal oils for my salves and creams.

SALE!!

It has been a couple of weeks since I posted the spreadsheet of sales.  I have had only 2 responses.

Both said that they would rather I posted only the MUST Have sales.  So:

Metro, maybe other Loblaws owned stores, have canning supplies on sale.

Canning jars: 500ml $7.99, 750ml-1liter $9.99

This is a GOOD price.  They also have liquid pectin on sale but I find it almost never gels for me.  I use only the no-sugar-needed powdered pectin or the Pomona pectin.

No Frills has seasoned frozen chicken breasts, boneless/ skinless OR boneless sliced pork loin $1.97/ lb (less than 1/2 price)

I plan to buy about 20 lbs of each and can them.

Getting serious about GF and healthy storage

I have been posting the shopping spreadsheet every weekend, to very little comment, one way or the other.  It’s about 3 hours work to put up, so unless I hear otherwise, I’m dropping that idea.  Maybe I will just post the awesome sales, like the tomatoes for $0.39 /lb last fall.  I got 7 dozen 500ml jars of stewed tomatoes for $58.  Enough to last the winter and spring, and nothing in them but sea salt and tomatoes!

I think will soon be restarting my weekly sales sheet, but with a more stern eye to healthiness, GF, DF, etc.
