You need an annual total of 300 lbs of grain products per person (MUCH less if you are GF) Try storing barley, amaranth, quinoa, buckwheat, sorghum, etc.) Whole grain stores better than flours, get a grinder.

Week 11: SPICES AND HERBS Think of what you use most often. Salt (NOT Plain you need the iodized kind) pepper, cinnamon, bay leaves. Look for bargains. Ethnic stores often carry 1 lb bags of cumin, coriander, cinnamon, hot pepper, black pepper…  Also get pre-mixed curry, garam masala, seasoned salt, whatever you use.

Week 12: RICE Secure 10, 15, 20 lbs. White stores best but is not as nutritious. I find brown gets bugs, so airtight containers.  Get a mixture; red, brown, black, long grain, scented… Counts towards grain total.
