Weekly Sales and notes

This is the second full month I’ve been keeping tabs on sales and I’ve confirmed something I long suspected.

DO NOT buy groceries the first week of the month.  Seriously.

Even if you’re on a monthly cheque (OAS, ODSP, etc) save your money until the second week.  There is *nothing* on sale the first week.  Look over my posts.  If you can, try to save for the third week, that seems to be the best sales.

Again I have fresh veggies and fruit for canning, meats for freezing or pressure canning, and a few emergency foods.  Emergency or instant foods are good when the power is out and you don’t want to use much propane or wood to cook your food.

There’s also a 1st aid kit.  Probably not great, but you can add antibiotic ointment, and other stuff, the box alone is worth the price.  And don’t forget soap, detergent, toothpaste, deodorant, painkillers, etc.  And feminine necessaries.  They make great trade goods if you’re past the age of needing them.

Soon I will be adding recipes for storage based food, ready to eat meals to can, and various salves and creams, including an antibiotic.
